St Josephs School, Pukekohe
This small, 100 year old school in Pukekohe has a strong community and sees parents and students regularly congregating at the main entry during pick up and drop off times. The Board wanted to create a safe and vibrant meeting area off the main road that could also be used during the school day and would allow clear sight lines for visual oversight.
Block and plaster were used to construct pillars and raised planters, surrounded by floating timber seats. This has significantly increased the available seating and created an inviting area that is enjoyed by the children, staff and parents alike. New aluminium fencing has replaced a dated chain-link fence and given a fresh and modern street appeal.
